City of Akron Logo
Akron has had many symbols over the years, from the "City of Opportunity" logo to the "Tree Logo" in the 60s to the All-America City Seal and most recently the Rubberworker logo. But throughout Akron’s history there has never been a truly community driven effort to select a symbol which represents our city so when Akron Mayor Shammas Malik was elected in 2024, he promised to lead a robust community engagement effort to listen to Akronites about what they really want to see as the symbol of the city. Which brings us to now! This year, we are celebrating Akron’s 200th Birthday with the City’s Bicentennial and there’s never been a better time to think about our future. We want to hear from you! For the next logo - What colors should be used? What shapes? What should it represent and how should it make you feel? Help us by taking the survey and let your voice be heard in this process.
“Before I even took office, I received many questions about whether we would redesign the city’s Rubberworker logo and I made a commitment to residents that we would design a new logo with community input and engagement at the heart of the process,” said Akron Mayor Shammas Malik. “We’ve put together a committee of diverse and talented individuals to help lead our engagement efforts and choose a firm or artist to ultimately design the next symbol for our city. During our Bicentennial year, we feel this is the right time to engage residents on a logo that best represents us, and we look forward to hearing from residents about what that image should look like.”
