Augusta County Community Academy
The 2026 Community Academy will start in August.
Did you know that the daily operations of Augusta County's government involve a complex web of departments, programs, and services designed to support the needs of over 77,000 residents?
The Augusta County Community Academy invites citizens to dive into learning about the distinct responsibilities of local government and the departments and affiliated agencies that deliver services that impact residents daily.
The program promotes civic engagement and dialogue between county government and the community. Graduates of the Community Academy program become Community Ambassadors. Ambassadors are encouraged to continue their engagement by sharing news and knowledge, participating on County boards and commissions, and encouraging others to get involved.
This program is open to anyone who lives, works, and/or plays in Augusta County. Applicants who are 18+ years of age are encouraged. Special consideration may be given to high school age students who drive or participate with an adult family member. Preference will be given to Augusta County residents.
The seven-session program will be held on non-consecutive evenings from 6-9pm, starting on August 4, 2026. While most of the sessions will be held at or near the Government Center, a few will be held at different locations throughout the county. The 2026 schedule with dates and general locations can be found in the project update.
