Class #3 email reminder

Community Academy Class 3:

Dear Community Academy Cohort,

I’m sorry to have missed Class 2 and look forward to hearing about it from you when I return for Class 3.

Community Academy Class 3:
Tuesday, Oct 14, 30, 6-9pm, Fire-Rescue Burn building, 180 Technology Dr., Staunton VA
Public Safety – Fire-Rescue, Sheriff’s Office, Animal Control, and Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter
Presentation and activities will start at the Fire-Rescue Burn Building and then move to the new animal shelter in Verona.

● Much of our next class will be outside - so dress comfortably and for the weather!
● If it rains, we will brave it, just as our public safety responders have to do in their jobs! There will also be tents that we can gather under, fingers crossed for clear skies.
● We will spend a large portion of this class on our feet and outside. Please bring a portable lawn chair for your own comfort.
● Driving logistics for Class #3:
○ We are planning to meet at the Fire-Rescue burn building, 180 Technology Dr., Staunton VA
○ After our visit with Fire-Rescue, we will get in our cars and head to the new Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter, which is at 1011 Lee Highway, Verona, VA. This will make it easier to dismiss from the shelter and allow you to go straight home from there. If this presents any concern for you, please let me know.
● If you took your name tag home, remember to bring it back! We will plan on collecting these at the end of the evening after each class.

**Reminders: **

● Ambassador Pledge. Class 1 included an overview of the Academy’s Ambassador Pledge. Please refamiliarize yourself with the pledge before each Class.
● Survey. You should have received a separate email to submit feedback for the first class. Your comments will help us improve the program and we appreciate your participation. You can also take the Class #2 Survey using this link. Please submit your feedback before the survey closes on Oct 14, our next class.
● The presentation from Class 2 is attached and will be placed on the cohort webpage when Mia returns (https://augustacountyva.civilspace.io/en/projects/2025-community-academy-cohort).

● Snacks. Feel free to bring them along with drinks or water bottles.
● Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. We will be outside for a large portion of the night, please dress accordingly.
