192nd Avenue Project

Overview

We are working to improve safety and comfort on 192nd Avenue from NE 18th Street to SE 1st Street. The new design will meet current standards and support growth in the area.

The project team is currently collecting information and feedback from the community to help inform the final design. Click on the button below to share concerns or opportunities for improvement along NE 192nd Avenue.

In June 2025, we hosted our first community open house, where we shared early design concepts and gathered feedback on improvement priorities, multimodal considerations and intersection concepts.

This input helped inform an updated design, which will be shared with the community at the second community open house in spring 2026.

Potential improvements

The project team will evaluate options to improve 192nd Avenue and surrounding intersections. Potential considerations include:

  • Repave and restripe the roadway
  • Expand the roadway, where possible
  • Use roundabouts or traffic lights to improve intersections at 18th, 13th, 9th, and 6th Streets
  • Extend sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides of the street, where possible
  • Improve access to existing curb ramps
  • Add center turn lanes and medians, where possible
  • Modernize stormwater treatment and drainage systems

Project Area

Project Area

The project area is located on the eastern edge of Vancouver. Unincorporated Clark County and the city of Camas border the project area to the north and east.

Near the project area, there are a mix of residential neighborhoods, rural lands, and schools, including:

  • Harmony Sports Complex, northwest of the project area
  • Union High School, southeast of the project area
  • A variety of businesses and shopping centers along 192nd Avenue and SE First Street

Other improvement projects in progress or planned near 192nd Avenue include:

Public Involvement

Public involvement is important to ensure this project meets the needs of the community. Whether you live, work, play or travel in the area, we want to hear from you to make sure the improvements benefit everyone who uses 192nd Avenue.

Throughout the design process, there will be opportunities for in-person or virtual meetings, small group discussions and open houses.

In-person event schedule:

  • June 18, 2025 – Open House #1
  • Early 2026 – Open House #2
  • 2026 – Open House #3

Project Advisory Group (PAG)

A project advisory group (PAG) of people who live, work, go to school nearby and regularly use 192nd Avenue was brought together to help advise the project team throughout the design process. The group includes representatives from:

  • Neighbors who live near and travel along the corridor
  • The Humane Society for Southwest Washington
  • Evergreen Public Schools
  • People who operate Harmony Sports Complex, and teams that use their fields
  • Nearby places of worship
  • City of Camas Public Works Department
  • And more

In February 2025, the group met to learn about the project and share ideas about what changes are needed most. In May 2025, the group met again to see early design concepts and gave a recommendation for pedestrian and intersection improvements. This recommendation was shared at the June 18 open house.

The group will meet throughout 2026 to help finalize the design.

For more information about the PAG, email Lauren Garetto.
