Construction Notice

Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services will begin construction at The Downs park in March. The work will be completed by contractor Stability Solutions LLC of Battle Ground, Washington.

From March through July, portions of the park will be temporarily closed while construction takes place. The playground and walking trails will remain open during this time. Construction activities are permitted Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Planned improvements include:

• A picnic shelter with a “leaky roof” design that provides shade on sunny days while discouraging unauthorized overnight use
• A half-court basketball area designed for all skill levels, with a paved surface that can also be used for other types of play
• A new irrigation system to help keep the central lawn greener and more comfortable during warmer months
• Security lighting on the east side of the park to improve visibility and safety after dark

The contractor has been briefed on working and driving safely in the neighborhood. Visitors are asked to avoid construction areas and use caution around equipment while work is underway.
