Learn about the City's plans to revamp wayfinding systems downtown.
The City is working to improve how people get to and around downtown Vancouver. This includes how we use wayfinding tools, such as signs, maps, or mobile applications.
In the coming months, the project team will explore new ways to welcome, inform, and guide people who travel to downtown Vancouver. The project will accomplish this by making it easier for people to:
- Navigate streets
- Explore new areas
- Access transportation options
Existing wayfinding tools in downtown Vancouver are outdated and contribute to congestion. They also make it hard for visitors and locals to choose options other than driving.
To address these issues, the City will develop a new wayfinding plan, in partnership with Vancouver's Downtown Association, Visit Vancouver, and local consultants sparks+sullivan. The plan will outline phased improvements that will occur over the next several years.

What’s happing now?
The research phase of the plan is currently underway. This phase ensures that the project aligns with the community's needs. As part of this research, the team will conduct stakeholder interviews and public surveys this summer.
