Pearson Field Master Plan

The City of Vancouver is updating Pearson Field’s Airport Master Plan. In partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) the City is developing a long-term plan to help guide the airport’s improvements, priorities, and potential funding opportunities over the next 20 years.

The Master Plan will provide a long-term vision for Pearson Field while supporting a safe, efficient, and sustainable airport that continues to serve pilots, airport users, the community, and future generations.

About the plan

An Airport Master Plan (AMP) serves as the long-term blueprint for an airport’s future development. It provides a comprehensive vision for the next 20 years by:

  • Evaluating existing conditions
  • Forecasting future aviation needs
  • Identifying improvements that will support safe, efficient, and sustainable airport operations

The master plan will establish a practical implementation strategy, identify potential funding opportunities, and evaluate development alternatives based on technical, economic, and environmental considerations. It also provides a framework for ongoing planning while ensuring the airport continues to meet local, state, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements.

Ways to get involved

We invite you to share general feedback about the future of Pearson Field using the comment box below. There will be two open houses in the near future where all are welcome to attend. Dates TBA. The commnet box will be open during the whole planning process. If you have questions, please email Airport Manager Meredith Fox at meredith.fox@cityofvancouver.us.

Hough, Arnada or Hudsons Bay Neighborhood Residents: We Want Your Voice!

The City of Vancouver is looking for two community representatives from the Hough, Arnada or Hudson Bay neighborhoods to serve on the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Pearson Field Airport Master Plan.

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of one of Nation’s oldest continuously operating airfields in the United States and ensure that neighborhood perspectives are part of the planning process.

WHAT IS THE PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC)?
The PAC will work alongside City airport staff and the project consultant to provide community feedback as they evaluate Pearson Field’s future needs, opportunities, and challenges.

You do not need to be a pilot or aviation expert to participate! We are looking for engaged community members who are willing to learn, listen, ask questions, and share thoughtful perspectives.

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
Attend all three scheduled PAC meetings (dates to be announced).
Learn about Pearson Field and the Airport Master Plan.
Come prepared to participate and share constructive feedback.
Consider the perspectives and interests of the broader community.
Work collaboratively with other committee members.

HOW TO EXPRESS INTEREST:
Residents interested in serving should submit a brief statement explaining why they would be a good candidate to represent their neighborhood.

Deadline to submit interest: November 13, 2026, to PearsonField@cityofvancouver.us

Selections will be made by November 20, 2026.

Help ensure your neighborhood has a voice in planning the future of Pearson Field!
