Проект 192-й авеню

Overview

We are working to improve safety and comfort on 192nd Avenue from NE 18th Street to SE 1st Street. This busy street moves thousands of people every day — whether they are going to work, school, local businesses or parks. The new road design will meet modern urban standards and prepare for growth in the surrounding area.

Potential improvements

The project team is evaluating options to improve 192nd Avenue and surrounding intersections. Potential considerations include:

  • Expand the roadway, where possible, to add space for drivers, pedestrians, bikers and small mobility device users
  • Repave and restripe the roadway
  • Improve safety, access and comfort at four intersections (18th, 13th, 9th and 6th Streets)
  • Improve facilities for people who walk, bike or use small mobility devices
  • Improve pedestrian crossings at intersections and other locations throughout the corridor
  • Modernize stormwater treatment and drainage systems
  • Update underground utilities
  • Identify opportunities to increase access to transit

Project Area

Project Area

The project area is located on the eastern edge of Vancouver. Unincorporated Clark County and the city of Camas border the project area to the north and east.

Near the project area, there are a mix of residential neighborhoods, rural lands, and schools, including:

  • Harmony Sports Complex, northwest of the project area
  • Union High School, southeast of the project area
  • A variety of businesses and shopping centers along 192nd Avenue and SE First Street

Other improvement projects in progress or planned near 192nd Avenue include:

Public Involvement

Community involvement is an important part of the design process. Here's how we've worked to connect with the community so far:

  • Hosted two open houses for travelers to learn about the project, ask questions and share feedback directly with the project team.
  • Met regularly with the Project Advisory Group to discuss design ideas in a smaller group setting.
  • Attended multiple community events to share information and hear from people where they already gather.
  • Connected with groups and individuals from neighborhood associations, schools, businesses, faith communities and local organizations to gather feedback on key design decisions.
  • And more

Additional engagement opportunities are available throughout the project. Stay tuned for more information.

In-person event schedule:

  • June 18, 2025 – Open House #1 (event summary)
  • May 12, 2026 – Open House #2 (event summary available summer 2026)
  • Fall 2026 (TBC) – Open House #3

Project Advisory Group (PAG)

A project advisory group (PAG) of people who live, work, go to school nearby and regularly use 192nd Avenue was brought together to help advise the project team throughout the design process. The group includes representatives from:

  • Neighbors who live near and travel along the corridor
  • The Humane Society for Southwest Washington
  • Evergreen Public Schools
  • People who operate Harmony Sports Complex, and teams that use their fields
  • Nearby places of worship
  • City of Camas Public Works Department
  • And more

In February 2025, the group met to learn about the project and share ideas about what changes are needed most. In May 2025, the group met again to see early design concepts and gave a recommendation for pedestrian and intersection improvements. This recommendation was shared at the June 18 open house.

The group will meet throughout 2026 to help finalize the design.

For more information about the PAG, email Lauren Garetto.
