Severe Weather Potential - Friday Night to Saturday Night (11/14-11/15)

National Weather Service predicts severe weather this weekend

The National Weather Service has issued a forecast which predicts widespread rain for much of Santa Barbara County. This rain is expected to occur non-stop for nearly 24 hours, with the most concerning period being from Friday night (11/14) to Saturday night (11/15). Prediction indicates rainfall totals between 1.5 and 3 inches are possible in Buellton between now and Sunday, with rain rates of up to 0.5 inches per hour during some periods. The buik of this rain is predicted to arrive between 3:00 am and 6:00 pm on Saturday. Scattered flash floods are possible.

The severe weather threats which are possible include:

  • Thunderstorms

  • Strong, damaging winds

  • Road Flooding

  • Dangerous lightning

Recommended actions:

  • Consider changing plans and staying home

  • Stay aware of the weather and your surroundings

  • If you hear thunder, or see lightning or rapidly changing winds, go indoors and stay away from windows

  • If you encounter a flooded road, turn around and find another route

Two smaller storms are expected from Sunday night to Tuesday, and Wednesday night to Friday.
