Heatwave and Red Flag Warning information

National Weather Service forecasts for Santa Barbara County include the potential for high heat and elevated fire danger for Wednesday and Thursday. While the highest heat and fire danger (Extreme Heat Warning) is found in the mountainous areas and the interior of the County, elevated temperatures (Heat Advisory) are also existing in the Santa Ynez Valley, to include Buellton, with temperatures reaching the mid-90s or higher. Temperatures are expected to begin to drop Friday and continue to drop over the weekend.

Residents and visitors are advised to take action to protect themselves against the high heat.
Actions to take include:
● Drinking plenty of water
● Wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing
● Avoiding outdoor activities during the warmest parts of the day
● Staying in an air conditioned location, especially during the day

Elevated Fire Danger (Red Flag Warning) is expected throughout much of the County, but not in Buellton. Nevertheless, residents and visitors are asked to please be careful with fire, and be aware of the potential for wildfire.

There are also small chances of thunderstoms on Wednesday, and again over the weekend.
