Santa Ynez Valley Trail

The Santa Ynez Valley Trail will be a new multi-use path connecting Buellton, Solvang, and the Santa Ynez Valley. The starting point will be near the Santa Ynez Valley Botanic Garden right here in Buellton. It will run along the Santa Ynez Rive on the South end of town.

The Santa Ynez Valley Trail Project ("Project") is in the early stages of planning and outreach to propose building a paved multi-use trail across the Santa Ynez Valley from River View Park in the City of Buellton on the west to the intersection of Highway 246 and Highway 154 to the east in Santa Barbara County. The project will provide an alternative mode of transportation, encourage an active lifestyle, and enhance safety for bicyclists and pedestrians within the Santa Ynez Valley.

The project would span approximately nine miles, connecting the cities of Buellton and Solvang, and the community of Santa Ynez. Connections would also be made to unincorporated areas between Buellton and Solvang, Santa Ynez Valley Union High School, the Chumash Reservation, and the future Camp 4 community. The Project’s concept would consist of new segments integrating with existing segments to make one contiguous trail to accommodate bicycles, pedestrians, and, for some areas, equestrians
