While Buellton is typically very dry, large amounts of rain for prolonged periods can occur and can result in flooding. Flooding can be either minor and localized, such as street flooding due to blocked storm drain inlets, or more severe and potentially life-threatening, such as the Santa Ynez River breaching its banks.
