The City of Bullhead City is committed to enhancing community facilities and recreational spaces as part of our ongoing initiatives to improve residents' quality of life.
Optimum Community Center
Various areas of the Optimum Community Center remain closed while the City continues to remodel the facility. Future improvements that will soon open to the public include an outdoor and indoor pickleball court and new multi-purpose event and activity spaces. The Gymnasium, parking lot, Recreation Division offices, and other meeting and activity spaces recently reopened after substantial improvements.
Senior Enrichment Center
T.R. Orr Inc. will continue working to expand the Bullhead Senior Enrichment Center. The new expansion will add 9,000 square feet of space to the building, including 7,700 square footage of indoor activity and meeting space and 1,300 square feet of covered outdoor patio space. Construction is expected to complete in February 2025.
ATV/UTV Parking lot
McCormick Construction, under contract with the City of Bullhead City, is working to construct a new ATV/UTV parking lot to serve as a trailhead for the Arizona Peace Trail just southeast of the intersection of Bullhead Parkway and Silver Creek Rd.
18-1 Lift Station
A contractor will be rehabilitating the 18-1 lift station located just Southeast of the intersection of Highway 95 and Laughlin Ranch Blvd. The project involves installing paneling made of Predl material to protect the well from corrosion and other enhancements to prolong the system's lifespan. 18-1 is the third of three lift stations that needed and have now received this rehabilitation.
Animal Resource Center
Precise Builders is remodeling the former Mohave Valley Daily News building into the new Bullhead Animal Resource Center. The facility, which will feature expanded capacity, a veterinary clinic, a dog washing station, a pet crematorium, and more, is expected to open in the summer of 2025.
Headworks and Aeration Basin
Kay Constructors LLC, under contract with Bullhead City Utilities, is building a new headworks and aeration basin at the section 10 wastewater treatment plant. The projects will improve the city’s capacity to reclaim water and protect the facility's infrastructure from damage caused by foreign materials in the system.
Traffic Notices
City Street Maintenance Program
City Street Maintenance Crews will apply a slurry seal treatment to the inside lane of North Oatman Road from Arcadia Blvd to Bullhead Parkway as part of the City Street Maintenance Program (CSMP 2024-2025) beginning Tuesday, January 21 and completing Friday, January 24. The road will be closed entirely for a few hours each day while the slurry is applied and for a few hours after allowing the slurry to set; approximately from 6:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parents needing to get to Diamondback Elementary School will need to detour around North Oatman to Riverview Dr from Arcadia Blvd. The CSMP aims to treat at least 20% of the City’s roadways Each Year with a microsurface or slurry treatment. Pero Rock - Three right-hand turn lanes
Perco Rock will continue installing three right-hand turn lanes along Southbound Highway 95 at Central Ave, Rising Sun Rd, and Sterling Rd. Heavy equipment and dirt movement along the shoulder may be visible from the road.
Fiber conduit installation
Ervin Cable Construction (ECC) will be installing fiber conduit along the southbound shoulder of Highway 95 from East Shore Villas to Baseline Rd on behalf of TWN Communications. The work is expected to complete within 2 weeks and is not expected to impact highway traffic.
Street sweeping
City Street Maintenance Crews will be sweeping various streets throughout the city in advance of the CSMP schedule.
Street lights along Bullhead Parkway
McCormick Construction will continue building a raised median with street lights along Bullhead Parkway between Silvercreek Rd and Laredo Dr. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction within the work zone.
Improvements to the intersection of Highway 95 & Merrill Ave
Perco Rock Company, on behalf the City of Bullhead City will continue construction of improvements to the intersection of Highway 95 and Merrill Ave. Residents can expect to see heavy equipment operating along the eastern shoulder of the road
Repairs where recent water line repairs were made
Contractors working on behalf of Bullhead City Utilities will be completing asphalt and concrete repairs around the City in places where recent water line repairs were made.
Slurry treatment in Chaparral neighborhood
City Street Maintenance Crews will crack-seal various streets in the chaparral neighborhood in preparation for slurry treatment
