About
Bullhead City is making exciting strides in enhancing community engagement and recreational opportunities with the recent opening of the Optimum Community Center. Announced during the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on February 19, 2025, the first phase of the center has officially opened, featuring a state-of-the-art gymnasium, multipurpose room, and office space. This new facility is already hosting a variety of exciting programs for residents, and more are on the way.
Current Programs & Services
The Optimum Community Center is home to several valuable services and programs, including:
- Vita Free Tax Service: Offering free tax assistance to residents, helping to ease the burden of tax season.
- Basketball & Gymnastics Programs: The center is now hosting recreational and competitive basketball and gymnastics for individuals of all ages.
- Community Organizations: Several community groups, including Veterans in Motion and Positive Pause, have found a new home in the Optimum Community Center, bringing valuable resources to the community.
Upcoming Events & Facilities
Bullhead City residents have plenty to look forward to with a packed lineup of upcoming events and openings:
March 2025 Grand Opening: Join us for the official opening of the Optimum Community Center and other exciting locations around Bullhead City.
Senior Enrichment Center: Opening on March 4, offering a dedicated space for seniors to engage, socialize, and access resources.
UTV Trailhead at Silver Creek: Opening on March 18, bringing outdoor recreational opportunities for UTV enthusiasts.
Gary Keith Park: A grand opening will take place on April 11 & 12.
Additionally, AFA Bash for Bats adult softball tournament, expected to attract 70 teams, will be held from February 21-23 at the city’s parks. The Farmers Market will return on March 1, and the Dave Kopps Tournament of Champions will showcase the top girls’ high school softball teams in the nation in April.
Programs for All Ages
The Parks and Recreation division is dedicated to providing fun, educational, and inclusive opportunities for all. Currently available programs include:
- Free Programs for Kids (Ages 3-14): Fun science experiments, creative arts, and more throughout March.
- Golden Games: Continuing the training events for inclusive sports like chair volleyball and horseshoe pitching. These events are fostering an environment for everyone, no matter their ability.
