East Calcasieu Water System Expansion Project

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is undertaking an infrastructure project to enhance water service and support future growth in the region. The District 5 to District 12 Waterline Connection will connect multiple water districts, providing reliable public potable water to areas currently relying on private wells. This 9.5-mile waterline project will link District 5 to District 12, improving service and resilience, especially during natural disasters. The project will also allow for connections to privately-owned water systems, providing them with access to the public water system and reducing regulatory burdens.

Additionally, the District 5 to District 8 Waterline Connection will further strengthen the water supply for East Calcasieu Parish by establishing a permanent link between Districts 5 and 8, ensuring continued service during emergencies.

Key infrastructure projects include the construction of an elevated storage tank and a booster station along Highway 397 to increase water pressure and storage capacity for the consolidated district. A section of the existing waterline along Highway 397 will also be upgraded to accommodate these improvements.

Project Overview:

  • Estimated Cost: $26.1M
  • Completion Date: December 2026
  • Current Status: Construction and right-of-way acquisition are underway.
