Police Jury Opens Applications for Round 2 of the Annual Opioid Abatement Grant Program
Opioid Impact Survey & Outreach
July 20, 2026 -- The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is issuing a call for projects for the annual Opioid Abatement Grant Program, the initial step in determining eligibility for a full grant application.
The program is funded through the National Opioid Settlement, part of a nationwide effort to combat the opioid crisis and address its lasting impact on local communities.
The Opioid Abatement Grant Program is open to organizations, agencies and service providers offering programs or initiatives focused on primary prevention, evidence-based treatment, harm reduction, recovery support and other strategies aimed at reducing opioid-related issues in Calcasieu Parish. Grant funds are awarded on a reimbursement basis after all project requirements have been met.
"The opioid crisis continues to have real effects on individuals and families throughout our Parish," said Police Jury President Brian Abshire. "We are committed to supporting local efforts that strengthen prevention, expand treatment and help those on the path to recovery."
Project ideas must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, July 31.
