Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The project is officially complete!

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury celebrated the official ribbon-cutting of the new 26,000-square-foot, $15.4 million Forensic Center on November 7, 2024. The facility will house the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab. The Coroner’s Office includes autopsy suites, evidence storage, an X-ray room, and a secured entryway. The Crime Lab features modern labs for DNA, fingerprint, and toxicology testing. Shared spaces include a large lobby, conference rooms, family meeting rooms, and office areas.

“Today is an important day as we open the new Calcasieu Parish Forensic Center, home to the Sheriff's Office Crime Lab and the Calcasieu Parish Coroner,” said Police Jury President Anthony Bartie. “By bringing these teams together in one facility with the latest technology, we’re increasing our ability to serve and protect the community with care and accuracy in every case.”
