Weycroft
Weycroft Grant Drive, Weycroft Ridge Drive and Weycroft Avenue east of Green Level Church
Cary has received citizen requests for traffic calming along several roads in the Weycroft subdivision. Staff have responded by collecting data on the speed and volume of vehicles traveling through the neighborhood and are working to gather input from the residents to inform potential traffic calming improvements. Any input can be provided by emailing the Cary Project Manager using the link below.
For information regarding the speed hump recently built on Weycroft Avenue, west of Green Level Church adjacent to Whitford Place, please reach out to the Cary Project Manager directly.
Cary staff have been collaborating with the Weycroft community to determine how traffic calming can enhance this neighborhood. Through vehicle data collection and evaluation, paired with community input and feedback, staff are able to make recommendations for devices that have a proven ability to modify driver behavior and that are consistent with the roadway context and Cary design standards.
Traffic counts have been completed along several roads in this area, including:
- Weycroft Grant Drive
- Weycroft Ridge Drive
- Weycroft Avenue, west of Green Level Church
- Weycroft Avenue, east of Green Level Church
Whitford Place Subdivision - east of Green Level Church Road
For traffic data and other documents related to the speed hump recently completed on Weycroft Avenue, east of Green Level Church, please reach out to the Cary Project Manager.

Traffic data results from the Weycroft subdisivion are summarized in the Traffic Summary Report and exhibits posted to the Supporting Documents section. We encourage all potentially impacted citizens to review the documents presented and share with their neighbors.
Cary staff have prepared a conceptual design to solicit input and gauge support for traffic calming within the community. That design is also posted in the Supporting Documents section. In order to better understand the neighborhood reaction to these concepts, a survey was made available to all citiziens in the area. Cary staff are happy to meet directly with community representatives as we move through this process. Based on the survey results and subsequent discussions with community representatives, staff are proceeding as follows:
- Staff collaborated with representatives of the Weycroft subdivision regarding traffic calming along Weycroft Grant Drive and agreed to pause on the project due to a lack of support from the community.
- As requested by the Weycroft community, staff continued to evaluate Weycroft Avenue, which is a Collector Street, to determine if additional traffic calming might be appropriate. As a Collector Street, any improvements to Weycroft Avenue would be recommended and fully funded by Cary.
Based on a holistic review of the data along Weycroft Avenue, staff are recommending the installation of radar speed feedback signs to supplement the existing traffic calming devices (medians and traffic circles). We encourage you to review the traffic data summary and other documents below to understand the full scope of this project. Any additional feedback can be provided by emailing the Cary Project Manager directly using the link below.
Project updates will be provided to HOA and neighborhood representatives, as well as being posted here.
