Overview

The CBE is committed to strengthening employee well-being.

Well-being is an area of focus in the 2024-27 Education Plan and a priority of the Board of Trustees.

Your voice matters. Employees have consistently shared their experiences related to well-being. In the past, previous surveys (2022 & 2024) informed changes like the introduction of a fall break, enhancements to the CBE's Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), expanded professional learning opportunities and many school- or department-specific well-being initiatives. Those previous surveys also helped confirm the need for the Employee Well-Being Strategy and define the strategic pillars. The Employee Well-Being Strategy serves as a guide for building the conditions where employees can thrive and employee and student well-being grow alongside each other.

Survey results will be shared in June 2026 and those results will help develop detailed plans and initiatives under each strategic pillar. Those detailed plans will begin to be shared in Fall 2026 and there will be opportunities to provide feedback to help adjust plans as we learn and grow together.

Employee Well-Being Strategy

Our roots are strong. They ground and anchor the strategy in Board priorities, legislated requirements, staff feedback and data and leading practices.

Each leaf on our tree represents a pillar of the strategy. These pillars draw strength from our foundational frameworks and every person at the CBE. Together, they will form the canopy under which employees can grow and thrive. Learn more about the Employee Well-Being Strategy on Insite.

Focusing on what we can control

We acknowledge there are areas that impact well-being that we can control and ones we have less control over. We've focused the survey questions on areas of the work environment and well-being that the CBE has more control over, so your feedback can help guide practical action. For those areas we have less control over, we focus on influencing change. Below are some examples of what we have heard through previous surveys and known impacts on CBE employees’ well-being, grouped by our level of control.

Your voice matters

The way forward will be shaped by your insights, focus on what we can directly change and rely on all of us committing to making gradual changes together. Collectively, we all share the responsibility of creating healthy and sustainable workplaces.

Supporting your participation

Your responses are completely anonymous; there is one link/URL for all employees.

We also appreciate that reflecting on your well-being may bring up unexpected feelings. If you need or want immediate support related to your well-being, the following resources are available:

For non-urgent and/or ongoing needs, the TELUS EFAP listed above is available and other resources are listed on Insite. Speaking with your Health Advisor in Human Resources or supervisor is also an option.

Open-ended questions

Many of you value the opportunity to share feedback in your own words, and we recognize how meaningful that can be, especially when reflecting on well-being.

For this survey, we’ve focused on structured questions so we can more clearly identify patterns and take action on what we hear.

We also want to identify and share important themes in a timely fashion. Our goal is to share high-level results before the end of June 2026.

There will be additional opportunities in 2026-27 for employees to share their voice in more open-ended formats. You will see a question in this survey asking which ways of engaging around well-being feel most comfortable; your input will help shape future opportunities for connection and dialogue.
