Recognition for Cultural Heritage Months in Charles County

Charles County stands out as a vibrant community, enriched by the diverse backgrounds of its residents. We are dedicated to fostering an environment of inclusion and acceptance by honoring the rich tapestry of cultures and experiences that define our community. We invite all residents to embark on a journey of discovery, learning about various cultures and heritages year-round.

During their May 13, 2025 meeting (around minute mark 53:49), the Charles County Board of Commissioners decided to formally recognize the following cultural heritage and identity days/months in 2025:

• February 2025 - Black History Month
• March 2025 - Women's History Month
• April 2025 - Arab American Heritage Month
• May 2025 - Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
• June 2025 - Pride Month
• September 2025 - African Heritage Month
• September 15-October 15, 2025 - Hispanic Heritage Month
• October 15, 2025 - Indigenous Peoples Day
• November 2025 - Native American Heritage Month

Through our cultural recognitions, Charles County Government proudly celebrates the unique life experiences and perspectives of all who live and work in our county. As part of the recognition, the Board of County Commissioners issues proclamations to individuals and community groups who represent the recognized culture and/or identity. Representatives from Charles County Government also make effort to attend community-led activities, events, and celebrations that correlate with these recognition days and months.
