Residential Stormwater Drainage Improvement Program
The Residential Stormwater Drainage Improvement Program, initiated by Charles County Government, aims to tackle the widespread issues of drainage and flooding on private residential properties. This program marks a significant shift as the county seeks to take on the responsibility of stormwater drainage conveyance systems on privately-owned residential properties, focusing primarily on those systems that manage runoff from publicly owned properties or rights-of-way.
To effectively prioritize these improvements, the county has identified 109 project sites and ranked them based on several key factors, including the severity of the drainage issues, fairness in addressing problems across different neighborhoods, and the age of the existing infrastructure. This prioritized list will guide the implementation of essential repairs, ensuring that the most critical areas receive attention first, ultimately improving the overall stormwater management and infrastructure within the community.
