Zoning Code Update
The Zoning Code is a set of laws that regulate what property can be used for, for example, residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural uses. Zoning regulation is an important planning tool that shapes our community, provides economic and social benefits, improves health and wellness, and helps conserve the environment.
Charles County is in the process of updating its Zoning Code, which was first adopted in 1992. Can you believe that was over 30 years ago? This update is necessary because it will modernize the code, make it more user-friendly, and better reflect our land use goals that are outlined in the 2016 Comprehensive Plan.
