The Gilbert Lindsay Neighborhood Engagement Area (NEA) is located in the South Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, bordered by Washington Boulevard to the North, Vernon Avenue to the South, Main Street to the East, and Figueroa Street to the West. Anchored by the Gilbert Lindsay Recreation Center, this NEA is in close proximity to major landmarks such as the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena. The area features a mix of residential housing, local eateries, convenience stores, and small businesses that serve as daily touchpoints for community members.

The CSP Gilbert Lindsay Team partners with local organizations including the All Peoples Community Center, A Place Called Home, and L.A. Commons to foster community trust, enhance youth engagement, and support violence prevention strategies. The team’s collaborative efforts focus on improving safety in and around the park, expanding access to social services, and creating welcoming spaces for families and youth.

Fun Fact: Gilbert Lindsay, for whom the park is named, was the first African American elected to the Los Angeles City Council and served for nearly 30 years, helping to shape Downtown Los Angeles into the economic and cultural center it is today.
