Columbia Shuswap Regional District
Electoral Area F Issues Identification Study

Electoral Area F Issues Identification Study

Electoral Area F (North Shuswap) is a dynamic, fast-growing part of the CSRD and, indeed, the province as a whole. The communities that comprise Electoral Area F look to the CSRD as their local government, and rely on the regional district for most of their local services. Residents and their interests are represented at the CSRD Board table by one Electoral Area Director (Director Jay Simpson).

To better understand the questions and concerns that Electoral Area F residents may have with local services and the current system of local governance, the regional district, with funding from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, has launched the Electoral Area F Issues Identification Study. The basic purpose of the Study is to determine what changes, if any, may be required to ensure that local services and/or local governance in Electoral Area F continue to meet the needs of people in the North Shuswap.

HAVE YOUR SAY

A major part of the study is community engagement. Resuming in January 2024, the independent consultants undertaking the Study will be connecting with people in different parts of Area F through various community events and an online survey.

Community Open Houses took place Saturday, January 20 at the:

  • Lakeview Centre (Anglemont) at 10 AM
  • North Shuswap Community Hall (Celista) at 2 PM.

Here's a link to download the slide presentation from the events.

New! An online Open House session has been added for residents to join in via Zoom. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

If you missed the open houses, residents are still encouraged to complete the online survey, and to review the public materials produced for the Study. (See the bottom of the right column.) The survey deadline is February 29, 2024.

WHAT THEN?

Based on the community input received at the community events and through the survey, the consultants will identify and recommend changes the CSRD can make to address the issues raised.

The study is not an incorporation study — incorporation, as a result, will not be considered or put forward as a possible change to consider. All options will involve changes within the current Regional District system.

Virtual Open House

If you missed the sessions, you can catch up by watching the video of the February 21, 2024 Virtual Open House featured below.

"Input from residents on local services in Electoral Areas F, and Regional District decision-making, will be invaluable in identifying options for change."
