Distinctly DeLand - 2050 Vision Update

The City of DeLand is excited to announce the launch of Distinctly DeLand, the City’s update to the 2050 Vision Plan and the Comprehensive Plan.

Together, these two plans are frameworks for guiding growth and development in the City to help shape DeLand’s future. Through these long-range planning efforts, DeLand can accommodate growth and revitalization in a way that preserves its history, culture, and overall quality of life.

The first step in updating the City’s Comprehensive Plan is to update the 2050 Vision Plan, and we need your help!

Vision plans serve as a roadmap for the future and form the basis for the Comprehensive Plan.

Current Vision Statement:
DeLand’s future will allow growth while preserving historical resources and natural areas, encouraging both new development and redevelopment in the core city area (Greater DeLand Area), establishing mixed-use and activity centers, supporting alternative modes of transportation, and providing a diverse and strong economy, that will result in a more livable and sustainable community.

Your feedback will help guide the update to the Comprehensive Plan.

Through the Comprehensive Plan, the City sets goals, objectives, and policies to accommodate and manage projected growth. These policies guide development and redevelopment efforts to ensure future development will proceed in an orderly, well-planned manner and that public facilities and services are available to enhance the quality of life for the residents.

To get your input, the City is starting with a community survey, which will provide us with your thoughts about some key elements of the 2050 Vision Plan.

City staff will also be conducting outreach and engagement events throughout the City and will be conducting a community open house and workshops with the Planning Board and City Commission.
