City Receives $980,000 Grant from CA Encampment Resolution Funding Program

Grant funds will be used to increase outreach to homeless individuals and reduce illegal encampments in Banning.

The City of Banning has been awarded a State grant of $980,000 from the Encampment Resolution Funding. The grant will be used to provide outreach to homeless, remove encampments, support rapid rehousing, and to complete improvements at Opportunity Village Emergency Shelter. Since May 2023, contact has been made with more than 150 homeless individuals in Banning.

In addition, grant funds will be used to construct a sound buffer wall between I-10 and Opportunity Village. The sound wall is currently in design and construction is expected to begin in late 2024 or early 2025.
