Parks Strategic Plan

The City of Barrie is committed to shaping the future of its parks and recreation system by creating a comprehensive Parks Strategic Plan. Phase 1 of this initiative focused on developing the 2024 Parkland Needs Assessment Report, which provides critical data about current parkland use and anticipated needs. This foundational report sets the stage for Phase 2’s in-depth planning process, ensuring that our park system adapts to the changing needs of our community while supporting responsible growth and development.Phase 2 will extend beyond the scope of the Parkland Needs Assessment Report, integrating community-driven values and priorities into actionable recommendations. This phase will address important considerations, such as funding allocation for park-related initiatives, equitable planning of outdoor recreation facilities, and innovative strategies to support the city’s evolving population. Engaging residents in this process is vital, as their input will directly influence decisions that enhance the quality of life for all Barrie residents.
