40th Pole Reopened to Vehicles

40th Pole has been re-opened to beach driving due to the fledging of protected bird species. State and federal guidelines necessitate the closing of beaches to driving when unfledged chicks are present. The chicks are monitored daily and once they are able to fly, driving restrictions are lifted.

The beach can be driven on via** Emergency Access Numbers 45, 45A, and 46**. A beach driving permit is required to drive onto 40th Pole. Please keep pets leashed and respect fencing in place to protect dune restoration areas.
