Hickory Creek August 2026 Update

August brought major progress to the Hickory Creek Road project, with even more exciting milestones on the horizon.

Paving between Riverpass and Waterside is now complete, and the roadway has officially reopened to traffic — allowing us to remove the Riverpass detour ahead of schedule.

CPKC Railroad approved the lifting plan for the final section of bridge beams and the last of the beams were delivered 8/13. Fun fact: placing these beams will require three cranes working in coordination to lift, splice, and carefully position the steel over the CPKC railroad. This complex operation has taken months of planning and collaboration and will continue until the beams are set over the next 10 days.

At the same time, crews continue making steady progress on several key components, including paving the new bridge deck and installing storm sewer infrastructure.
