Newton Rayzor Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) Sidewalk Project

Join us in shaping a safer, more connected Denton! With support from TxDOT and NCTCOG, we’re working to enhance walkability and improve pedestrian access near Newton Rayzor Elementary, fostering a stronger, more accessible community for all.

Introduction

Transforming pedestrian accessibility and safety is a top priority for the City of Denton. Through the valuable support of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), we’re leveraging the Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) Grant Program to enhance routes for students traveling to and from Newton Rayzor Elementary. This initiative aims to install much-needed sidewalks in targeted areas, ensuring a safer and more user-friendly experience for pedestrians of all ages. In addition to improving student access, this project also addresses broader connectivity needs by closing key sidewalk gaps, creating a more seamless pedestrian network for the neighborhood.
