Citywide Lift Station Control Panel Replacement
Project Overview
The Citywide Lift Station Control Panel Replacement and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) System Upgrades Project is located at each of the lift stations throughout the City. All sanitary sewage from the City’s lift station basin areas flow through their respective lift stations, is pumped via forcemain, and subsequently flows to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The electrical control panels and Remote Telemetry Units (RTU's) have all reached the end of their useful life and require replacement for continued reliable operation. The Master Plan (previously completed by King Engineering) identified the replacement of the City’s electrical and SCADA systems as a high priority project that should be completed as soon as possible. In December 2018, a design services contract was awarded to McKim & Creed, Inc., of Clearwater, FL by City Manager Delegated Authority. This contract included SCADA Control Panel and Lift Station RTU drawings for the City’s WWTP and all 44 lift stations located throughout the City. In February 2022, the City Commission awarded a contract for bidding and construction services to McKim & Creed, Inc., of Clearwater, FL. This contract included all bidding support, submittal and RFI reviews, and construction inspection / management services throughout the construction phase of the project. In July, 2019, the City Commission awarded a design services contract to Engineering Design Technologies Corp., of Tampa, FL. This contract included all required survey, calculations, design, bidding services, and construction administration services required to complete the design and construction of the WWTP electrical control panels and all lift station electrical control panels.
Project Details
The Scope of this project includes the replacement of the existing electrical control panels and RTU's at forty two (42) of the City’s lift stations. Two (2) lift stations, #20 and #32 are not included in this scope, as these two (2) lift stations will be replaced in their entirety using Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding from the Florida Division of Emergency Management. The forty two (42) new panels will be constructed with new, updated equipment and will be fabricated from corrosion resistant materials. This project will increase the reliability and the resiliency of the lift stations, increase the City’s monitoring capabilities, and reduce the risk of illicit discharge.
