FDOT Skinner Boulevard Improvement Project

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is constructing a Complete Streets project to enhance safety and improve traffic on SR 580/Skinner Boulevard from Main Street/Bass Boulevard to Broadway. The project will include reducing travel lanes, two roundabouts, and a multipurpose path connecting to the Pinellas Trail to make travel safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists, and to stimulate economic development north of Downtown. Key Project Elements

• Lane reduction from four to two lanes between Alt 19/ Broadway and Oak Street
• Roundabouts at Douglas Avenue and Highland Avenue
• 10-foot wide concrete sidewalks connecting to the Pinellas Trail
• On-street parking, bus bays (with decorative bus shelters), and bicycle lanes
• Adding a permanent pedestrian crossing signal at the Pinellas Trail
• New mast arm signal Bass Boulevard/Main Street
• Decorative street lighting
• Raised median (landscaping opportunity)
