Grand Oak Park
Overview
The City of Dunedin is excited to announce a transformative project at the site of the former City Hall property at 542 Main Street. After moving operations to the new City Hall on Louden Avenue in March of 2023, the City identified the old building as functionally obsolete and unsuitable for future municipal use. This project proposes converting the space into a thoughtfully designed pocket park that prioritizes preserving the property’s grand oaks, integrating open green space, and enhancing downtown amenities. The vision for this park reflects the City’s commitment to sustainability, community connection, and downtown revitalization.
Key Project Features
With a focus on creating a welcoming respite in the heart of Downtown Dunedin, the proposed park will feature:
- An inviting mix of seating, lighting, and landscaped open areas supported by upgraded facilities like public restrooms, in Phase 2.
- Strategic design elements will preserve parking and incorporate historical details such as brickwork and columns, paying homage to Dunedin's architectural roots.
- As the plans progress, community input will play a vital role in shaping this space to reflect the needs, values, and aspirations of residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.
