Multimodal Transportation Plan Update (MMTP)

Multimodal Transportation Plan Update

The City of Dunedin is updating its Multimodal Transportation Plan (MMTP) Update which will include Bicycle / Pedestrian Master Plan map.

A Vision for a Connected, Sustainable Future

The goal of this update is to enhance and expand the current multimodal transportation system, which already supports walkers, bikers, and other alternative transportation users.
This project builds on the original Bicycle/Pedestrian Master Plan adopted in November 2011, which, while innovative at the time, lacked detailed goals, policies, and action steps for long-term implementation. The updated MMTP will incorporate actionable strategies and objectives, helping the city expand its network and improve existing facilities.

Key Project Elements
• Update citywide programs, plans and procedures;
• Update, and complete, the Dunedin Bicycle Master Plan to include recommendations from this Plan
• Expand bicycle network to connect to the Pinellas Trail Loop to the east, schools, parks, and public facilities
• Expand bicycle network to connect to schools, parks, and public facilities
• Improve street lighting along the bicycle network
• Expand East/West bicycle network
• Implement protected bike lanes with permanent separations such as barriers, curbs, planters, or landscaping (where bike facilities are on higher speed roadways) and continue to expand bicycle connections on slower speed streets
• Continue to work with local and regional partners on consistent trail crossings
• Investigate opportunities to implement a bikeshare program and place bikeshare hubs near transit, schools, parks, public facilities, and other activity generators

Community Engagement: A Collaborative Effort

A comprehensive community engagement plan has been included in the MMTP update. This will involve:
• Hosting a Bicycle Forum/Community Event.
• Organizing stakeholder meetings.
• Conducting an online survey.

Project Budget
•Multimodal Master Plan bicycle policy and bicycle map updates: $15,000
• Multimodal Master Plan Existing Conditions Update: $11,000
• Community Engagement: $27,000
*Bicycle Forum / Event - $15,000
*Stakeholder Meetings - $5,000
*Online Survey and Map - $7,000
• Flexible Streetscape Design Standards: $18,000
• Presentation: $8,000
Total Budget: $75,000.00
As these phases roll out, the public will have the opportunity to provide feedback and stay engaged with the project.
