Senior Transportation Review: Community Conversation
The Town of East Greenwich Senior Services is conducting a comprehensive review of our transportation program to ensure it continues to meet the evolving needs of our community. As we work to strengthen this vital service, your input is essential to shaping its future. Our transportation program has experienced significant growth, expanding from 6-10 weekly riders to over 40 registered passengers. This increased demand, combined with limited resources—one driver and one 14-passenger bus—has created capacity challenges that require thoughtful community discussion and strategic planning.
Our Goals
Through this engagement process, we aim to:
- Understand community priorities and transportation needs
- Evaluate current service delivery and identify improvement opportunities
- Develop sustainable solutions that balance accessibility with operational capacity
- Create clear policies that ensure fair and equitable access for all eligible residents
Why Your Voice Matters
Whether you currently use the transportation service, have considered using it, or simply care about services for our senior community, your perspective is valuable. This review seeks input from current riders, potential users, family members, caregivers, and all East Greenwich residents interested in supporting our aging population.
What Happens Next
Your feedback from this forum, along with operational data and best practices research, will inform recommendations for program improvements. These recommendations will be presented to Town leadership and the community before any changes are implemented.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and help us build a transportation program that serves our community well for years to come.
