Swift Community Center Expansion - becoming a Community Learning Center
The Swift Community Center, a cornerstone of the East Greenwich community, is poised for a transformative expansion to better serve the diverse needs of our residents. With a strategic addition of approximately 1,500 - 2,000 square feet to our existing 12,000 square foot facility, we aim to significantly enhance our capacity to offer programs that align with three critical goals: Health Monitoring, Education, and Programs that Enable Work. This expansion will not only provide much-needed classroom and conference space but also allow for the more effective utilization of our current footprint to deliver a broader range of services. Currently serving as a vital Senior Center and Recreation hub, the Swift Community Center offers a variety of programs catering to all ages, focusing on social, emotional, health screenings, educational pursuits, and fitness activities.
Recognizing the diverse interests of our town and the distinctive potential of the Swift Community Center, this transformative project gets its impetus from a statewide grant program. The Community Learning Centers Municipal Grant offers municipalities the change to construct or renovate community facilities to deliver targeted programming. As a beneficiary of this program, Swift Community Center is set to become a central part of our concerted efforts towards equitable, accessible and inclusive community uplifting.
