Citizens' Assembly of Eilat

The city of Eilat is a pioneer in the field and will be among the first cities in Israel to hold a citizens' assembly.
70 representative Eilats who will be selected by lottery, will become members of the assembly and formulate recommendations regarding the city's preparations for climate change.
Assembly question:
Eilat is dealing with extreme conditions of heat, increasing humidity and even storms and floods, in a way that affects all of our lives How would we like to prepare for climate change in Eilat for the benefit of the city's resilience, the quality of life of the residents and for future generations?

"Citizens' assembly is an innovative method that is accepted in the world,
The members of the assembly are chosen at random,
Thus a representative sample of the city of Eilat was created.
We will actually get "Eilat in one room": men, women, representatives from each neighborhood, age division (from age 16) similar to the whole city and more.
The members of the assembly will acquire professional knowledge, deepen and discuss the issue.

It is the residents who will submit an official report of recommendations to the mayor and the authority's management,
for further discussion and decisions for implementation."

The first Eilat assembly will begin in January and will be spread over several meetings until February during which the members of the assembly will acquire professional knowledge, deepen and discuss the issue.
