Making Water Conservation a Way of Life
Set against the backdrop of intensifying climate change challenges and the critical importance of water use management, our state governing body, the State Water Resources Control Board, is developing regulations to inaugurate fresh strategies for urban water management. Their initiative, "Making Conservation a California Way of Life," proposes to infuse conservation at the core of our daily routines and systems. Envisioning a new blueprint for urban water usage, this robust initiative seeks to instill mandatory conservation directives aimed at Urban Retail Water Suppliers, including Banning, to promote efficient water use, thereby fortifying our resilience against climatic shifts impacting our water resources.
The State Water Resources Control Board on July 3, 2024 adopted the Making Conservation a California Way of Life regulation. The regulation implements Assembly Bill 1668 and Senate Bill 606, which were signed into law in 2018, to develop a regulatory framework to achieve long-term water use efficiency.
