Climate Pollution Reduction Plan
The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) was recently awarded $1 million as part of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) four-year Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG).
The goal of the CPRG is to develop strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other types of harmful air pollution. Click here to read the Pima County Priority Climate Action Plan
The following elements are included in the new Pima County Climate Pollution Reduction Planning efforts:
- Stakeholder engagement activities
- Workforce planning analysis
- Greenhouse gas emissions inventory, projects, and reduction measures
- Overall benefits analysis
- Benefits analysis for low-income and disadvantages communities
- Review of authority to implement
- Review of opportunities to leverage other funding sources
PDEQ is leading these efforts, in partnership with the City of Tucson, the Tohono O’Odham Nation the Town of Oro Valley, and the City of South Tucson.

Pima County Department of Environmental Quality distributed two surveys to gain insight from diverse community members to strengthen our clean energy economy, enhance workforce training opportunities, and effectively reduce greenhouse gases while also addressing environmental injustices in disadvantaged communities.
Results of these surveys are being analyzed and will help shape Pima County’s Climate Plan.
