Justice Services

Since 2016, Justice Services (formerly known as the Criminal Justice Reform Unit) has been working with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation as part of its $1.5 million Safety + Justice Challenge Grant. To reduce jail numbers by addressing the main drivers of the County’s jail population, including warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges and low-level nonviolent offenses related to mental illness and substance abuse.
