What to Expect
Construction Will Be Completed in Stages
Because this is a phased project, work will move from one roadway to the next over time. Residents, business owners, and visitors should expect some road and lane closures due to this much-needed utility installation and roadway reconstruction work. The City will continue sharing information to help the community plan ahead and stay informed.
District
This project is located in District 4, represented by Vice Mayor Jenifer N. Bailey.
Current Project Status
Preliminary utility investigation work for the Krome Avenue & Flagler Avenue Water and Sewer Upgrades and Krome Avenue Transit Accessibility and Roadway Improvement Project began the week of June 1st, 2026. The contractor will continue field activities over the next several weeks to locate and verify existing underground utilities ahead of major construction.
Residents and businesses may notice roadway utility markings, exploratory digging, and field crews throughout the project area. No road closures are anticipated at this time; however, minor traffic impacts may occur near active work zones.
