Traffic Signal Improvements (TN-26-A1)
This project was selected because recent traffic studies around the Sanford campus show that the intersection at 23rd Avenue South and 55th Street South has reached the point where a traffic signal is warranted. With continued growth in the area, adding the signal will help manage traffic and improve safety. A signal has long been anticipated at this location, and the study confirms that this is the right moment to move forward and include it in the 2026 CIP.
As part of the project, pavement removal and new concrete islands will be installed, which will result in some traffic impacts during construction. We’ll work to minimize disruptions as much as possible while improvements are made.
