Projects Advancing the Strategic Plan

Public Places

Below is a listing of major projects that are currently underway in support of the Commission Priorities and Strategic Plan.

  • Aquatic Center
    Under a cost of apprixmately $47 million, the City renovated the Aquatic Center to include a 27-meter dive tower, new compeitition pool, spa, lighting, and viewing decks among other elements. The facility is currently open to the public.

  • War Memorial Auditorium
    This initiative, in partnership with the Florida Panthers, will restore and revitalize the War Memorial Auditorium. The facility will feature an ice-facility with two full-size skaing rinks that will benefit both the public and serve as a practice rink for the Panthers.

  • DC Alexander Park
    This $9.6 million initiative will transform DC Alexander Park into a vibrant and welcoming park for locals and visitors.

  • Lockhart Stadium
    This initiative has transformed Lockhart Stadium into a 18,000 seat stadium currently serving as the home for Inter Miami. Additionally, the site will include a future park that may include elements such as a community center, playground, fitness area, dog park, and multipurpose field. The total preliminary cost estimate for all elements of the park is approximately $31.8 million, of which the City is responsible for about $12.7 million.

  • Pickleball Facility at Snyder Park
    This public-private partnership (P3) will design, construct, operate, and maintain a pickleball facility at Snyder Park. The site will be open to the public and feature up to 40 courts, a restaurant, lakefront beach area, as well as access to a variety of other amenities.
