2024 Mill & Overlay Improvements

About

The city of Gainesville, Texas, launched the 2024 Mill & Overlay Improvement Project to enhance high-traffic streets and extend their lifespan. Rather than a costly and disruptive full reconstruction, the City Council, informed by a 2020 Kimley-Horn survey, prioritized upgrades to key streets while keeping costs and community impact in check.

Lawrence Street, a vital route for businesses like Walmart and Atwoods, will see temporary closures during construction but will gain significant durability, delaying the need for future reconstruction. Additionally, other streets in Gainesville will receive crack and seal treatments to maintain their condition. WOPAC Construction, awarded the project in December 2024, will ensure Gainesville’s roads stay strong and ready to support the community.

Portions of the following streets are included in this project:

  • Taylor
  • Star
  • Lawrence

Total cost of the project is etimated to be $720,000.
