Airport Master Plan

About

The City of Gainesville is embarking on the development of a new Airport Master Plan to guide the long-term growth and development of our municipal airport. This critical planning effort will ensure that the airport evolves to meet changing aviation demands, aligns with modern standards, and maintains compliance with both local and federal regulations. Since the last plan was completed in 2005, the aviation landscape and community needs have shifted, making this update essential for crafting a sustainable and forward-thinking vision for the facility. The process will analyze current operations, forecast future demand, and propose recommendations for improvements, all while considering environmental requirements and fiscal stewardship.

This effort represents a multi-year process, with the Master Plan expected to take 18-24 months to complete before advancing to an environmental review phase. While the plan will provide a comprehensive vision for the airport’s future, implementation will occur incrementally, guided by priorities, available funding, and community input. Local feedback is vital to ensuring that the plan reflects the needs of Gainesville's residents, businesses, and the flying public. By contributing to this initiative, the public will play an important role in shaping an asset that impacts economic development, transportation infrastructure, and the quality of life in our region.
