Guiding Gainesville 2040 Comprehensive Plan

About

"Guiding Gainesville 2040" is a strategic initiative aimed at directing the future growth and development of Gainesville, Texas, while preserving its unique rural character. This comprehensive plan encompasses three interconnected components:

  • Comprehensive Plan: This foundational document will provide an overall understanding of the community, outlining current conditions and establishing a vision for sustainable growth, economic development, efficient land use, quality of life, general health, and the creation of a sense of place.

  • Downtown Master Plan: Focused on promoting Gainesville's downtown, this plan addresses crucial aspects such as parking, zoning, aesthetic guidelines, and economic development resources.

  • Parks & Trails Master Plan: This component aims to create a parks and trails system that focuses on connectivity, accessibility, and sustainable design to promote active lifestyles and community engagement.

"The heart of 'Guiding Gainesville 2040' lies in the voices of our community. Every idea, concern, and perspective that will be shared by the public in the planning process will shape a future that truly reflects who we are and what we aspire to be. When residents actively engage in the planning process, they ensure their voices are heard, and they become partners in creating a Gainesville that works—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come."

Public Workshop #4: Downtown, Parks & Trails Master Plans

Growth is coming. How are we going to ensure that the quality of life improves with it?

What's the plan for Downtown in 15 years? How will Gainesville incorporate parks and trails?

You told us what you wanted to see, now join us for Public Workshop #4 of Guiding Gainesville 2040.

Civic Center on Monday, November 17, from 6–8 PM.

This workshop is all about your voice. Over the past two workshops, you shared your priorities for Gainesville’s future. Now it’s time to check in, review draft recommendations, and help our project team refine input with your feedback.

You are shaping the short- and long-term goals for Historic Downtown Gainesville and the Parks and Trails that you, your family, and tomorrow's youth will use for decades to come. We want to share these drafts with you to help ensure the final copy is a clear guide for our community.
