Southern Sewer Line
About
The Southern Sewer Line Project is a monumental Public Works initiative for the City of Gainesville, representing a key step forward in revitalizing the city's infrastructure. With a project cost of just under $13 million, this ambitious undertaking updates the southern sewer line, which provides essential service to the entire city. The line intakes from the residential neighborhoods in southern Gainesville to the industrial park in the northern region, ensuring comprehensive coverage and support for future growth.
The project is being financed through a combination of grant funding, impact fees, and bonds. Notably, fees were collected as part of two significant 380 Economic Development Agreements with Liberty Pointe and Summa Elite. These funding mechanisms allow the city to undertake this extensive infrastructure upgrade without burdening our current community, demonstrating our commitment to strategic and sustainable growth.
The southern sewer line is a critical investments in Gainesville's future, aiming to:
- Support Growth: The updated sewer line will accommodate the city's growing activity in residential and industrial expansions, ensuring the infrastructure remains robust and efficient.
- Improve Reliability: This project will enhance the reliability of the sewer services. These new lines should last for up to 100 years!
- Encourage Economic Development: The improvement to the southern sewer line will support ongoing and future developments, creating opportunities for businesses and residents alike.
This project is estimated to cost just under $13,000,000.
