Talk of the Town
About
Gainesville City Council is carving out time to listen and engage with the community because the best conversations occur when neighbors come together for the greater good. Members of the Gainesville, TX community are invited to participate in a new community workshop series designed to inform the community and open the floor to conversations and collaboration. The new Talk of the Town series will feature presentations, discussions, and opportunities for public Q&A on important community topics.
The inaugural session will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 8am at the Gainesville Civic Center and will focus on code compliance. City Staff will provide a presentation to start the session, followed by a discussion with council members and an open Q&A for residents to share their questions and ideas.
Will you be joining us? Let us know by RSVPing on our Facebook Event: https://www.facebook.com/share/14GCHHvDAYJ/
Future workshops will address additional topics such as streets, zoning, and other areas of interest identified by the community.

“I encourage everyone to join us for the Code Compliance Workshop,” said Jeff Johnson, City Council Member representing Ward 5. “We want to hear your ideas on improvements we can make in building safety, the cleanup of urban blight, and the revitalization of residential and commercial properties. I, personally, would also love to hear your suggestions on fair and consistent ways to encourage and enforce these issues. Our priority is to make sure everyone is treated equally, from residential properties to commercial and city-owned properties.”
