Water Master Plan

About

We are focused on securing reliable and efficient water infrastructure for our community’s future. The Water Master Plan is designed to address the needs of current residents while preparing for the growth projected over the next 25 years. Through careful analysis and thoughtful recommendations, it will ensure our city’s water system can provide high-quality service, meet critical fire flow demands, and accommodate new residential and commercial developments within our study area.

This effort helps ensure that strategic improvements to our water infrastructure are rooted in both technical expertise and the lived experiences of those who call Gainesville home. The plan charts a sustainable path forward, enhancing our community’s quality of life for generations to come.

The significant scope elements of this project are:

  1. Existing land use determination and ultimate land use projections;
  2. Historical water use analysis by unique land use category;
  3. Existing hydraulic model update and calibration;
  4. Existing water system analysis and deficiency identification;
  5. Future water demand projections through the 5-year, 10-year, 25-year, and Buildout planning periods;
  6. Capital Improvement Plan development for the Fire Flow Improvements, 5-year, 10-year, and 25-year scenarios.
