Opioid Remediation Settlement Funds Use-Public Feedback

About

On February 25, 2022, manufacturer Johnson & Johnson and the “big three” distributors McKesson, AmerisourceBergen, and Cardinal Health finalized a $26 billion opioid settlement agreement to resolve their liabilities in over 3,000 opioid crisis-related suits nationwide, “clear[ing] the way for $26 billion to flow to nearly every state and local government in the U.S.” As part of this settlement, Virginia will receive at least $500 million, which will be distributed to the various counties and municipalities based on population. As part of this distribution, Gloucester is slated to receive nearly $700,000 over the next 18 years. In order to best determine how to use the funds, in the interest of having the greatest positive impact on the residents of Gloucester County, we are seeking feedback from those who have been impacted by the opioid crisis. In addition to holding an in-person public forum, on Monday, December 12th, we are offering this virtual channel for our residents to offer feedback, as well. We will use your feedback to inform how we use the available settlement funds.
